i am, like many in this day in age, completely attached to cell phone and have a tendency of going crazy if i am without it. its my phone, my camera, my gps, my computer, my alarm clock, my calculator and my calendar.. and its sad but i can confidently state i am not alone in this!.. even if im not on my phone constantly, i am calm when i have it with me.
so on tuesday i left for work and as soon as i was half way there (it only takes about 5 minutes to walk to work from my house) i realized i forgot my phone at home. i turned around and was about to head back home but i looked at my watch and realized i only had 3 minutes until i had to be at work!.. i turned around and headed towards work (the smart and responsible thing to do).. but i was already stressing out i didn't have my phone. its not even that i am on my phone at work ever but for some reason i just need the phone with me and alive (i also hate when it dies during the day)..
anyways i get to work and get everything together for the day and i email terry saying.. ahhh! i forgot my phone at home! im going to go crazy"and continued on with my day.
i came home to quite a few text messages.. sent by terry throughout the day.. each message short, sweet and completely perfect. the words made me smile and may have made leaving my phone at home a little worth it!

perfect mornings
the days i live for are not lazy but relaxing:
waking up around 8:30 or 9 after a good sleep and making a fresh pot of coffee. as the coffee is being made and the bold aroma surrounds the air, turning on my laptop and opening a browser with three tabs - gmail, twitter/pinterest and one of my favourite blog. on the best of these days the house is quiet and guinness is calm.. he lazily stumbles to wherever i decide to sit that morning and plops himself down near my feet. i'll enjoy the cup of coffee while reading blog posts or emails and once done make some breakfast.
these relaxing mornings rarely happen for a bunch of different reasons. one: i do not live alone and there is often so much going on in a house when everyone has their own schedule. two: i have morning classes 4 days a week and often those mornings in which i do not have early classes i have work to go to and three: sometimes i am just to stressed to have a relaxing morning.
this was my friday:
and this just so perfectly depicts my perfect morning. banana chocolate chip cinnamon pancakes with pure canadian maple syrup, a fresh cup of coffee made from the french press i bought the other day. an itunes playlist with the perfect mix of adele and snow patrol and i knowing i don't have to work for the next few days.
*im back at school starting monday.. booo :(

the weight of water
this morning, out of my usual routine of getting driven to school by my dad - he goes that way anyways to get to work- i took a bus to school. i actually don't mind taking public transportation, unless its at night. i used to hate it, i used to be bothered by the people on the bus and jump to ultimate judgement of why these people didn't have cars when they were older than my parents. i was spoiled and narrow minded. so on the bus as usual, i sit right near the bus doors - my reasoning for this is not simply to have easy access to the doors, but rather to be at optimal location for hearing conversations - creepy? maybe a little. i think people are interesting and normally have interesting stories to tell.. and plus, if they don't want anyone to hear maybe they should have conversations at locations other than on city buses. the bus makes a few stops, people get on, people get off and then the bus stops in front of a man and a women. the two of them were wearing clothes more appropriate for july than december and jeans were torn and filthy. as the man stands at the front of the bus scrounging through his money to find the bus fair for both of them, the women rolls a large round dirty object through to the centre of the bus and sits adjacent to me. when the man comes and sits beside her she says "this is going to be beautiful". he smiled and responded "i know". she described how she was going to clean it and paint it copper and line the mirror (i had no idea it was a mirror until this point) with a pattern of his choice. she said the frame had a crack, but the mirror was fine, it was perfect. she said she was going to find a way to hang it somewhere.
now that, right there, is my inspiration.
now that, right there, is my inspiration.
people who have the creativity, risk and love which enables them to find beauty in the most unconventionally beautiful things
its not as easy to do as you think, so see beauty in the smallest things is not something you can just train yourself to do. ive tried.

make my day..
something sweet on this rainy and cold day
SMILE:
when looks are your concern - b/c your smile is beautiful
when love is your concern- b/c trust me they love your smile
when you haven't thought about anything but school for the past week - b/c it makes you feel better
when you think of me - b/c i'll smile when i think of you
