someone important got me thinking.
its morning and you wake up, either alone or beside someone who is still asleep. whats on your mind when you are not in a rush, when you have time to just lay there? when im laying in bed and the sun is shining through the tiny separation between the beautiful homemade curtains covering my window, im thinking how glad i am to wake up. i love waking up when i have the option to sleep, the option to lay in bed for a few hours and do nothing. when you wake up to the sound of an alarm its not the same. alarms usually mean you have something to do, somewhere to be.. you cant just lay in bed and think. when i can lay in bed and just think i definitely do. i think about my day, who i want to spend it with, what i want to do. i think about somewhere new i want to go, somewhere to walk guinness or vacation to. i'll listen to the birds, the rain, the sounds of the morning. i'll think about getting up and making coffee but often like the idea of laying there a bit longer better. i plan to enjoy the day, do things i love, not stress.
i can't imagine not waking up positive. i dont think i am able to wake up unhappy. sure i can wake up stressing about my day, or i can wake up and want to go back to sleep because i am so tired, but i can't imagine waking up and hating it.. waking up and wanting to go back and sleep forever.
in a perfect world would everyone wake up with dreams and hopeful ideas?

since humans are amazingly complex.
im just going to throw thoughts out on this blank screen right now.
i am so curious about people, about their lives, about their thoughts. i've probably mentioned this before but i want to know it all, as in i should have studied psychology. instead i studied kinesiology.. which is studying human movement, anything physical. i know how the body physically works. i can pretty much name all 206 bones in your body and give me the right instruments i can even tell you the rate at which your body uses oxygen, the water content of your body and even whether or not you have an abnormal heart condition. if you have lost sensation anywhere on your body i most likely would be able to determine which of your spinal nerves is being compressed (or damaged) and i can properly bandage a sprained ankle or dislocated shoulder. sure my degree is extremely practical but how can i understand humans if i haven't studied the psychological aspects. this i find most fascinating. i know we are all physically different.. but psychologically i think differences between humans are impossible to understand. i dont even think each one of us can properly understand the way our own brains work enough to explain it thoroughly to anyone. if i were to explain how im feeling right now, how im thinking.. im pretty sure words such as frustrated, hopeful, curious would come to my mind. that is how i would describe them but really these words are subjective (as many descriptive words are). does frustration bring on the same emotional or physical reactions for me as it does for terry or my sisters or anyone else? and describe the intensity? whoa.. that just got confusing.. and it also brings on my next curiosity.. how different will two people in the same situation feel and think. i'll use an example of two people in a relationship.. if one in the couple is independent and one is completely dependent.. how would each be affected in a semi-dependent relationship.. maybe the independent individual is more stable.. they would be fine if the relationship drifted slightly more towards dependent while the other may be unable to bear a more independent relationship (or vice versa). does this make sense? maybe not. i cant explain it more, i cant explain my thoughts in a way everyone would understand because its impossible to verbally (or through typing) discuss every factor that comes to mind when these questions come to my mind. i think my point is.. its hard to understand people fully because i find it hard to understand myself fully. its not a morbid thought.. i think people get by fine and can be entirely happy without fully understanding everyone or anyone they know, meet or love. we are all just complex and i love it and hate it all the same.

pro procrastinator
i should be studying but im just an extremely good procrastinator.
my weekend that i had planned to be filled with nothing but studying turned out to involve a few more things..
saturday: i went to see women in black with a friend - good movie if you like movies that really make you jump out of your seat. it had daniel radcliffe in it and i have to admit it was a little strange seeing him in a role other than harry potter
sunday: i woke up to guinness howling around 6:30 am (not cool!), started to study way too early then i took him for a walk and to petsmart to get some new food.. the lady at petsmart was surprised this was the first time id heard him howling since he is part hound (cocker spaniel).. oh great.. then i went over to terry's house.. he was making dinner! he made salmon and salad! i love that he can cook!
monday: studied here at the house with my sister.. but took a few chat breaks and a movie break.. we watched the kings speech.. i like it.. good movie.
despite my breaks.. i actually did get a fair amount of studying done :)

i bowl with bumpers
have i ever mentioned im horrible at bowling? unless there is bumpers. i like bumpers, except for the staff often think we are waiting for some 5 year old to bowl with us and thats why we have requested the bumpers. bumpers basically defeat the need for talent in bowling. they cover the gutter to prevent gutter balls and allows the bowling ball to always hit at least one pin (usually more). anyways, yesterday i went bowling for my friends 24th birthday. heres proof of my lack of bowling ability:
starbucks - yup thats me.
lisa gave us each a nickname.
ps: the game only had 10 bowls each, this was the score in the 9th.
slightly embarrassing.. next time we should mini put :)

dancing in the dark has evolved
In 1984 young bruce springsteen released a song called dancing in the dark.
In 2011 some women who goes by the name of dev released a song called dancing in the dark.
listen how different the lyrics to these two songs are. what are the implications of each? its slightly amazing how society has become accepting of such explicit music over less than 30 years. dev's lyrics are not alone.. music lyrics, music videos, movies, magazines etc., are so provocative they would have not been socially acceptable 30 years ago.
yup, just something i was thinking about this morning.

i wish we could open our eyes, to see in all directions at the same time
almost each day for the past few week ive received a text:"ask me something". This has slowly become one of my favourite three word texts. it requires me to compile thoughts together to form a question i want to know the answer to. taken verbatim the text requires me to ask any simple superficial question i want to know about him such as; what is your favourite movie? favourite dessert? best christmas present?. sometimes my questions do take this approach. this text warrants caution though and this caution is solely based on the fact that this individual is rather intelligent and analytical almost to the point of insanity. asking him such a superficial question would bore him and what is the fun in that right?
last night my question was "what inspires you?". his response: natural phenomena - beauty in the world that occurs so naturally. like the patterns in a snowflake.
he answered it so simply, so perfectly.

so, what inspires you?
think about it..
i want to know!

i'll disregard that fact..
yesterday i was in the car with my friend and my dad called. i had a normal conversation with my dad and when i finished the conversation my friend asked who i was talking to.. when she found out i was talking to my dad shes like.. what! are you always that nice to your parents?!.. umm yeah?! why wouldn't i be? then she asked me if ive ever had a fight with my parents.. i thought i had before, but then i started thinking about it more.. i really dont think i have.. ever.. either with my sisters. actually i dont even think ive ever had a fight with a friend. i guessin answering this question it kind of depends what you consider a fight... but my friends impression of a fight was a full on screaming argument, a lack of conversation for a couple of days (in other words; the silent treatment) or insulting the other in some way. and for this definition.. no ive never experienced this with my parents, sisters or friends. ive never insulted my parents/sisters or friends with the intention of hurting them, ive never ignored them or yelled in a condescending way, never have physically fought with or screamed at them. sure.. ive had minor disagreements with these people and ive definitely experienced the whole "i really cant be around you right now because i may say something i will regret later".. but never had a "fight" in a way that coincides with my friends definition of the term.
i dont like confrontation. i avoid it. im easy going and i like being that way. if i dont like the way someone is acting i will leave, if i dont agree with what they are doing/saying.. i may calmly state my opinion or disregard the information, through silence or ignorance. im opinionated but i can often sense when my opinion may cause confrontation and if there is a risk of that.. i wont express it..
i build strong friendships and i have an amazing relationship with my family. i think this is because im contra-confrontational.. yup thats me :)

just another friday
tgif means nothing to me currently.. a) because its the summer so im not in school and b) because i work in retail meaning i dont necessarily get weekends off. (technically im only part time and often get way more than 2 days off a week, but not in the summer). so yup its friday and i work 9.5 hours today. 9.5 hours i need to leave the pup and im also missing the james street north art crawl, which i have grown to absolutely love this summer.. i have to work saturday too..
im hoping for some nice weather.. i want to use my new camera and take some photos!
i get to pick my classes for school tonight too! im excited about that. i've decided to do a post grad program at college, human resource management something entirely different than my kinesiology/science degree.
have a good weekend :)
oh and recently ive been pinning everything on pinterest.. im obsessed. (check it out)
